Spring is in the Air…

January in Texas is pretty much the worst month. The holidays are over, Mardi Gras seems far away, the grass is brown, it’s cold outside, and the sky is grey more than it’s sunny.

But for the past week, we’ve had unexpectedly warm, sun-shiney weather, and it’s got me super-excited about Spring! It’s got these little flowers excited, too– they’re popping out all over my yard, at least a month ahead of schedule!

Then my mom surprised me with this little pot of adorable baby daffodils.

All the flowery cuteness inspired me to make these cheerful little Springtime Blossom earrings. The leaves don’t match, but that’s what I like about them. I reject the idea that everything needs to match perfectly. After all, nature itself is often full of delightful asymmetry and endearing imperfections.
