About Us

WHO WE ARE:  Ruby and Emerald, a bit bohemian, a bit Southern, united by our love for good food, good books, creative endeavors, warm weather, thrift stores, and barefootedness. We met on a streetcar in New Orleans. This blog is a place for our ongoing conversation with you about cooking, reading, crafting, and life in general. Welcome!

Ruby: Currently lives in Colorado, but plans to return to New Orleans soon and open up her own cafe! When she’s not busy being a mom to her precocious two-year old daughter, she’s probably in her kitchen creating a new recipe, sitting at her sewing machine, pasting together a collage, or researching something. Ruby is an avid researcher. She’s a Cancer (the chefs of the Zodiac!), and eats a salad every day for lunch because it’s “The French thing to do.”

Emerald: Currently lives outside of Austin, Texas, with her husband and two cats. When she’s not busy copy editing, she’s probably making jewelry or a collage, writing, or wondering what to cook for supper. She’s a Taurus (can’t nobody tell her nothin’!) and sometimes eats chips and salsa for breakfast.

Thanks for stopping by! Grab a salad or some chips and salsa and stay a while – we’re glad you’re here!
